Pinda Rika Dorji (born 7 November 1993), known professionally as pindaPanda, is a Bhutanese esports personality, television host, content creator, and YouTuber. Born in Changangkha, Thimphu, Bhutan, she has become the country's most-followed social media personality and a prominent figure in Southeast Asian esports. She is best known for her work as a presenter on Astro SuperSport's eGG Network and for her Dota 2 gaming content, which has earned her the nickname "Rage Queen of Southeast Asia."[1][2]
Early Life and Education
Dorji was introduced to video games at the age of three by her grandmother, with whom she played Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Growing up in Bhutan, where internet connectivity was limited to 3G, she developed her online gaming skills under challenging technical conditions. Despite these constraints, she became an avid gamer, eventually focusing on the multiplayer online battle arena game Dota 2, which she began playing in 2013.[3][4]
In 2015, at the age of 21, Dorji graduated from Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia with a bachelor's degree in construction management, specialising in civil engineering. Rather than pursuing a career in engineering, she chose to follow her passion for gaming and content creation, a decision that would define her professional trajectory.[5]
Career in Esports and Broadcasting
Dorji rose to prominence as a television host for Astro SuperSport's eGG Network, a dedicated esports and gaming channel serving audiences across Southeast Asia and Australia. On the network, she presented The pindaPanda Show, covering competitive gaming events, interviewing players, and providing commentary on major tournaments. Her energetic on-screen presence and deep knowledge of competitive Dota 2 made her a distinctive voice in the regional esports broadcasting landscape.[6]
A viral skit in which she appeared to snap a keyboard in half after losing a Dota 2 match earned her the "Rage Queen" moniker and brought her to the attention of audiences well beyond the competitive gaming community. She was subsequently signed by Tier One Entertainment, an esports talent management agency with a roster of prominent gaming personalities across Southeast Asia.[7]
YouTube and Content Creation
On her YouTube channel, Dorji produces a varied range of content including Dota 2 gameplay tutorials for beginners, reviews of major esports competitions, short cover versions of popular songs, and dance routines. Her channel has attracted over 150,000 subscribers, while her Facebook following exceeds 600,000 — figures that place her as the most-followed Bhutanese individual on social media platforms globally.[8][9]
Significance
As one of the very few internationally visible Bhutanese digital personalities, Dorji has served as an ambassador — however informal — for Bhutan in global online spaces. Her career trajectory, from a small Himalayan kingdom with limited internet infrastructure to prominence in one of the world's fastest-growing entertainment industries, represents a distinctive chapter in Bhutanese engagement with digital culture and the global economy. She is frequently cited in rankings of Bhutan's top influencers and has been featured by publications including ONE Esports, World of Buzz, and Gempak.[10]
